Dr. Francisco Alonso, Director of INTRAS, begins teaching a new edition of the subject Tourism Transportation at the School of Tourism Business Administration of the Universidad Central del Este, Dominican Republic, as part of the exchange program of the UCE with different educational institutions, including the University of Valencia.
The subject of tourist transportation provides the student with the concepts and tools necessary to develop a logistic management of the means of transportation. The new demands of the market and the need to be competitive make it necessary to apply logistic processes in the use of the means of transportation, such as the development of the tourist product. The student will learn how all the means of transport related to the tourist product operate: their infrastructures, their management, the functions of each job and the relationship with each type of tourist product or service. Field and office practices put the student in contact with airport, maritime, railway and road transport infrastructures, which will complement the study of each of these means of transport. At the end of this course, students will be able to argue, analyze and relate how road networks and means of transportation work in the Dominican Republic and the world.
