INTRAS (Institute of Research on Traffic and Road Safety) is an interdisciplinary research center of the UV (University of Valencia) specialized in the realization of Projects of Advice, Research, Development, Innovation, Training and Dissemination in the field of Transport, Traffic, Mobility and Road Safety.

History/Constitution

It was constituted by Decree 105/1995 of the Valencian Government, of 16th May 1995, under the protection of the University Reform Law, and is currently regulated by the Spanish Organic Law on Universities of 2001 and by the Statutes of the University of Valencia of 2004.

In its more than 25 years of history, INTRAS:

  • Has developed 396 projects for administrations and institutions, as well as for companies, both public and private.
  • It has published 140 books
  • He has published 256 scientific articles in high quality specialized magazines.
  • He has participated in more than 500 scientific and popularization congresses.
  • 63 doctoral theses have been read.
  • He has carried out or designed more than 300 programs and training actions.
  • He has been present with thousands of impacts in the media.
  • Given its international vocation, its activity has been developed in 43 countries mainly in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
  • For its work it has received more than 17 awards recognizing the center, some of its projects, publications or researchers.

Composition and collaborations

In accordance with its multidisciplinary nature, it is composed of professors and researchers from different departments of the University of Valencia, organized into five research groups (DATS, FACTHUM.lab, METRAS, PRECOVIR and SINTEC), which are joined by other professors and research groups from other universities. In addition, it has its own research, technical and administrative staff with full dedication that focus on project development and management.

Likewise, INTRAS has collaboration agreements with other entities in which it participates such as ITS Spain, ITS Iberoamerica, Platform of Connected Mobility, Spanish Association of Mobility as a Service (MaaS Spain), the Intelligent Mobility Forum, the Spanish Technological Platform for Industrial Safety (PESI), the Road Technology Platform (PTC) and the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI), as it has been the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC [MOU1]).
