The Valencian Archive of Design (VAD) was created with the donation of the professional legacies of the designers Vicent Martínez and Lola Castelló, as well as the documentation on the projects developed in the company Punt Mobles since its foundation until 2012. The legacies of Martínez Peris, Curvadora Valenciana, Gasisa and La Mediterránea, through the mediation of Manuel Lecuona, constituted the other cornestone for the creation of the VAD.

The Universitat de València manages the AVD, through its General Foundation and with the ESAD València, to provide the continuity and stability that the project requires.
