VIDECOM project had a main role on the 28th International Congress EDUTEC, held at Santiago de los Caballeros (Dominican Republic) with the slogan ‘Educational innovation in the era of AI: rethinking university’.

The communication, entitled ‘VIDECOM: video, reflection and professional competence in the initial training of language teachers’ was done by Alícia Martí-Climent, Aina Reig and Irene Guzmán-Alcón, has shown the world a research that explores the potential of video in multilingual contexts as a tool for the development of communication strategies and the improvement of professional teaching skills.

The project analyses videographic production of university students in innovative activities as videolings, video reviews, contrastive grammar capsules or recording of teacher practices from a quality-ethnographic approach. By means of videos and surveys, the project analyses the effects that these practices have on oral, digital and teaching competences.Initial findings show that video encourages critic reflection, media literacy, collaboration and autonomy, establishing itself as a key resource in initial teacher training in multilingual environments.

With this contribution, VIDECOM reaffirms its commitment to educational innovation and training in a moment in which university is rethought due to the challenges that AI and digital society pose.
