The Use of Video in Multilingual Contexts to Improve Teachers' Professional Competence. Research on the Development of Communicative Strategies in the Language and Didactic Training of Future Teachers (VIDECOM)
For this project we offer to investigate the use of video in multilingual contexts as a tool for developing communication strategies of future teachers.
Given the nature of our work, the project is a part of the qualitative-ethnographic research approach to education. There are two types of the tasks that will be developed: those related to the construction of the corpus and its systematization, and those related to the analysis of the data and its dissemination through publications, participation in conferences, etc.
The main tool for collecting data is video which is used to record actual activity in class session as a means of producing students work, although questionnaires will be also used. This will provide us with two types of data analysis: the videos and the students´ impressions of their own practice based on the results of the surveys and self-assessment.
With this investigation, we aim to gather evidence of the contribution of the video as an educational resource for formative assessment, self-assessment and analysis of one´s own production, which allows for the improvement of oral skills, encourages linguistic reflection, and develops digital competence, all of which are fundamental aspects of the teaching process.
