On Monday, January 26, the Faculty of Teacher Training hosted the VIDECOM Seminar. Reflections on the use of video in language teaching, a day of work and reflection that brought together researchers and teachers from various universities to explore the potential of video as a training tool in language teaching and initial teacher training. The activity is part of the VIDECOM project, led by Professor Alícia Martí-Climent of the University of Valencia (UV).
The day began with the keynote address by Aina Monferrer (UV), who presented the processes of selection, design and contextualisation of video tutorials developed for the Apunts de Llengua platform. She highlighted the importance of video as a flexible, accessible and powerful resource for language learning, as well as the value of digital innovation in teaching.
Next, the seminar moved on to the block devoted to the project’s research lines. Carme Duran and Mireia Manresa (UAB) offered a framework for the use of video in reflecting on teaching practice, showing how this tool can help future teachers analyse their own intervention and develop a more critical and professional perspective.
Subsequently, Irene Guzmán-Alcón (UV) delved into the role of video in teacher education in multilingual contexts, highlighting its ability to stimulate critical thinking and foster a richer understanding of the linguistic diversity present in classrooms.
The day concluded with the contribution of Pilar García-Vidal and Alícia Martí-Climent, who presented experiences and results related to student audiovisual production as a strategy to foster creativity, autonomy and communicative competence in language teaching.
The seminar consolidated a space for interdisciplinary dialogue and scientific cooperation, highlighting the shared commitment to promoting innovative methodologies that integrate video, reflection and meaningful learning. The speakers’ contributions reinforce the trajectory of the VIDECOM project and its commitment to developing pedagogical resources aligned with the current needs of educational institutions.
From the project coordination team, we would like to sincerely thank the speakers for their participation and the audience for their interest. We will continue to promote initiatives that connect research, training and educational practice, reaffirming our commitment to quality, innovation, research and educational transformation.
