The environmental pollution, of a chemical, physical or biological nature, generates alterations within organisms and ecosystems, affecting their functioning. Human species is not unaware to this problem, as health is being affected by pollutants. The doctoral programme in Pollution, Toxicology and Environmental Health aims at training professionals specialised in pollution and in its effects.

In the currently in force doctoral programme and it its predecessors 2 students were enrolled in the 2007/2008 academic year, 2 in 2008/2009, 5 in 2010/2011 and 8 in 2011/2012. 4 theses have been presented in the last 5 years within this doctoral programme.

At this programme participate researchers belonging to CEAM (Mediterranean Center for Environmental Studies), three centres of the CSIC (Institute of Aquaculture "Torre de la Sal" (Castellón), Institute of Marine Sciences (Barcelona) and the Desertification Research Centre (CIDE). We also have researchers of the Public Health Research Centre (CSISP). A great part of the professors and researchers belong to research micro-clusters within the Excellence Campus VLC Campus. The Universitat de València has a Framework agreement with the University of Algarve (Portugal) in teaching matter within the area of doctoral studies.
