Researchers from the Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model GVA-UV participate in the closing session of the European project TRUST at the University of Calabria. The Universitat de València will contribute in the implementation of circular economy projects in the pharmaceutical and textile sectors from various countries of the Mediterranean area.
The research team of the Chair TEM (GVA-UV) has presented various research focused on the analysis of the viability and sustainability of innovative projects in the field of circular economy in such relevant sectors as the pharmaceutical and textile in countries of the Mediterranean area.
The work of researchers from the Universitat de València has focused on the analysis of the economic, social and environmental viability of circular economy projects, as well as in the as in the development of the correspondent business plans that guarantee their future sustainability. Moreover, they addressed the efficiency in the management, treatment and reuse of wastewater from pharmaceutical and textile industries with the aim of preventing pollution issues and contributing to mitigate the scarcity of water resources that is so common in many countries in the Mediterranean area.
UV professor and director of the Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model GVA-UV, Francesc Hernández, displays its satisfaction regarding the results obtained from the research made and highlights the importance of the replicability and transfer of the major achievements.
The work team of the Chair has a multidisciplinary nature and has used a completely new methodology to quantify the social and environmental benefits derived from the proposed actions. Different optimal management strategies for water reuse have been created and implemented with the participation of industries and authorities, within the framework of a business model with regional perspective.
The group of specialists has also developed an innovative methodology for risk analysis and monetary quantification of social and environmental externalities associated with water reuse projects.
The Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy
The Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy of the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universitat de València aims to study and develop proposals, promote knowledge and disseminate topics related to the circular perspective of economy. It intends to promote the transformation of the current economic model towards another one based on innovation, knowledge and sustainability from an environmental, productive and social point of view.
Under the sponsorship of the Regional Ministry of Finance, Economy and Public Administration of the Generalitat Valenciana, this chair is directed by Francesc Hernández and its activity is focused on the promotion of circular economy through training, research and dissemination activities.
Furthermore, the Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy is part of a Network of Chairs for the Transformation of the Economic Model in which all the Public Universities of the Valencian Community are integrated.
