The Chair for Transformation of the Economic Model. Circular Economy in the Water Sector has provided three reports for the public regarding the research and work.
Study of the benefeits of a new economic model based on circular economy in vulnerable spaces of the territory with spetial mention to the area affected by the DANA
This report addresses topics like Circular Economy as a response to a natural disaster; the circular production model and its advantaged, its benefeits as a new economic model based on circular economy and its obstacled; the economic viability, action plans and final goal.
The territories affected by climate catastrophes need an additional effort to regenerate. Thus, it is a good moment to develop new economic plans and models that allow the strengthening of the bonds between humans and territory. In this context, the circular production model emerges to increase efficiency in usage and reduce waste generation. The result of a strong system in which subproducts of different processes become materials for other actions, decreasing dependency on external support and strengthening th eproduction system.
Study of the efficiency improvement in the water providing and waste water services, and their impact in the people well-being and company productivity
For the last years, extreme meteorological phenomena have become more common, bringing large material loss and even human lives, altering the functioning of communities and territories significantly. These events display the vulnerabilities in social, economic and environmental systems and make clear that we need to strengthen the prevention, response and restoration mechanisms. We call them natural disasters, but it is importante to point out that the physical disaster itself is not the problem (like floodings or a DANA), the problem is the consequence on the population and its space. So in front of such extreme meteorological phenomena, we speak about disaster risk and the probability of its occurrence. The 'risk¡ concept is the result of three factors: danger, exposure and vulnerability.
