
Strategies for sustainability and circular economy promotion were addressed in Spanish universities.
With the commitment to move towards an economic model based on circular economy. The director of the Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy (GVA-UV), Francesc Hernández, has participated in the results’ presentation day as part of the ODServa2030 project held in the headquarters of the CSIC in Madrid.
A great number of initiatives that could be transversally implemented both in research and in the training of university students were addressed, in order to raise awareness regarding sustainability and circular economy.
Within the work programme, regulatory and knowledge transfer aspects were discussed as key variables for promoting circular economy in the Spanish university context. A great number of participants made very relevant contributions.
The director of the Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model (GVA-UV), Francesc Hernández, considers key the ‘creation of synergies between the different chairs’ that will be ‘very productive’ both in the field of research and training and that will allow progress towards a new, more sustainable economic model based on circular economy. It is important to emphasise on the need to provide realistic responses to the challenges facing our companies and society in general.
The Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy
aims to study and develop proposals, promote knowledge and disseminate topics related to the circular perspective of economy. It intends to promote the transformation of the current economic model towards another one based on innovation, knowledge and sustainability from an environmental, productive and social point of view.
Under the sponsorship of the Regional Ministry of Finance, Economy and Public Administration of the Generalitat Valenciana, this chair is directed by Francesc Hernández and its activity is focused on the promotion of circular economy through training, research and dissemination activities.
Furthermore, the Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy is part of a Network of Chairs for the Transformation of the Economic Model in which all the Public Universities of the Valencian Community are integrated.
