The Chair for Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy (TEM-GVA-UV) participates in the 'Training course in Technologies and tools for efficient reuse of wastewater' organised within the framework of the national network HOLIWATER.
The national HOLIWATER network aims to analyse the use of innovative technologies in order to implement circular economy projects in the water sector.
A multidisciplinary approach is applied, combining technological, environmental, economic and social considerations from a holistic perspective. This integrative conception is achieved thanks to a network of highly experienced researchers in different disciplines, willing to promote close collaborations and the exchange of knowledge with the business sector and to seek formulas to enhance transfer and innovation.
The goal of this training course held on 8 and 9 April 2025 at the Universitat de Valencia intended for Doctoral Students and professionals in the sector is to introduce those technologies and tools that allow to carry out an efficient and adequate reuse within the current regulatory framework of resources contained in wastewater. Its goal is to sustainably recover resources from wastewater, applying a multidisciplinary approach that combines technological, environmental, analytical, microbiological, economic and social considerations.
Francesc Hernández, director of the Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy, presented a conference under the title: ‘Viability and economic sustainability of innovative technological proposals’.
In the current context of the depletion of natural resources, it is necessary to commit to the circular economy, always under the criteria of efficiency, viability and sustainability.
In addition to the Universitat de València (UV), the network HOLIWATER is formed by CEIT-BRTA, CETAQUA, CIEMAT-PSA, the Spanish Research Council (CSIC), the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the University of Girona (UdG), the University of Granada (UGr), the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), the University of Valladolid (Uva) and the University of Oviedo (UniOvi) and is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation within the framework of the State Programme to Promote Scientific and Technical Research and its Transfer, within the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research.
