Common actions will be promoted among the Spanish university professorships that address aspects directly related to Sustainability and the Circular Economy.

With the commitment to move towards an economic model based on the circular economy, the director of the Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy (GVA-UV), Francesc Hernández, will participate in the II National Meeting of University Chairs of Sustainability, which will take place on 15 October at the Botanic Garden of the University of Valencia.

The conference will discuss important initiatives that could be implemented cross-disciplinary in research and also in the training of university students to raise awareness of sustainability and the circular economy.

The programme includes three panel discussions dedicated to the 2030 Agenda, climate change and the circular economy. A broad participation of the participants is expected with important contributions in each of these areas.

The director of the Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model (GVA-UV), Francesc Hernández, considers key the ‘creation of synergies between the different chairs’ that will be ‘very productive’ both in the field of research and training and that will allow progress towards a new, more sustainable economic model based on the circular economy. It is important to insist on the need to provide realistic responses to the challenges facing our companies and society in general.

The Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular economy

The Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy in the Water Sector Circular economy of the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universitat de València aims to study, develop proposals, promote knowledge and disseminate issues related to the circular economy perspective. The aim is to promote the transformation of the current economic model towards one based on innovation, knowledge and sustainability from an environmental, productive and social point of view.

Under the sponsorship of the Regional Ministry of Finance, Economy and Public Administration of the Generalitat Valenciana, this chair is directed by Francesc Hernández and its activity is focused on the promotion of the circular economy through training, research and dissemination actions.

In addition, the Chair for the Transformation of the Economic Model: Circular Economy is part of a Network of Chairs for the Transformation of the Economic Model in which all the Public Universities of the Valencian Community are integrated.
