The analysis of the regional systems of Europe is gradually acquiring, a fundamental role in the political decision-making and in the configuration of the future of the European Union.

In an increasing context of globalisation, comprehending how the regions interact with the European institutions is essential to guarantee an effective governance. Federalism and diverse formulas of regional articulation are key topics that directly affect the cohesion and diversity of Europe. For this reason, the main goals of this course will be centred in analysing from a transversal, complete and integrative perspective the historic evolution of regional systems in Europe and the current role of federalism, exploring the future perspectives of territorial participation in the politics of States.
