Capella de Ministrers offers us a trip back to the Middle Ages with a collection of the most relevant marianas’ plays of our medieval cultural heritage.
The programme includes Cantigas of King Alsonfo X “the Wise” such as Cantiga Madre de Deus or the famous lament singed by the Virgin in the liturgical drama of "El Misteri d'Elx" Ay, trista vida corporal, without forgetting some of the songs contained in the "Llibre Vermell de Montserrat", fruit of the spirit of devotion to the Virgin, and one of the best known prophetic songs of the Middle Ages El Cant de la Sibil-la.
Since its creation in 1987, Capella de Ministrers, directed by Carles Magraner, has developed a magnificent research and musicological work supporting the Spanish musical heritage, from the Medieval period to the XIX century.
The result, transformed in a musical testimony, perfectly combines three key factors: historical accuracy, musical sensibility and, more specifically, an uncontrollable desire of communicating and making us participants of these experiences.
This concert is part of the celebrations of the 40 anniversary of the Universitat d’Estiu de Gandia. The appointment will be at 20h in the Escuelas Pías church with free entrance.
