The Salusex group at the Universitat Jaume I in Castellón and the University of Valencia have organised the 1st International Conference on Sexuality: Expressing diversity, which will take place on the 17 and 18 October 2019 at the Universitat Jaume I. The course can be validated for 1 optative credit.
This conference aims to serve as an open space to share and listen to a great number of research projects and experiences that show the many ways to express sexual diversity. Our goal is not only to address diversity related to sexual orientation and sexual identity focusing on sexuality in the LGBT+ community, but also the different ways in which sexuality manifests itself through out one’s life, sexuality in individuals with intellectual or physical functional diversity, and sexuality in specific groups like sex workers. It also aims to address topics such as cybersex and other phenomena of sexual expression brought about by the influence of information and communication technologies.
This conference in focused on both the promotion of sexual health and the prevention of risk behaviours such as psychological intervention in the face of certain issues (sexual dysfunction, paraphilia, sex addiction, etc.). All this from the necessary gender perspective. In addition, the organisers hope this conference will become a meeting point for researchers, professionals and associations committed to improving the overall sexual health of the population.
The event has already confirmed the attendance of prestigious national speakers and international speakers including Félix López from the University of Salamanca and Jose Antonio Carroble from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Seth Kalichman from the University of Connecticut, Hanneke de Graaf from Holland, as well as other symposium coordinators such as Francisco Cabello (Andalusian Institute of Sexology and Psychology), Jose Ignacio Pichardo (Universidad Complutense of Madrid), María Lameiras (University of Vigo), Elena García Vega (University of Oviedo), Monserrat Planes (University of Girona), Jose Pedro Espada (Miguel Hernández University of Elche), Cristina Garaizábal (Daniela Foundation), Andrés López de la Llave (UNED), Dolores Frías (University of Valencia), Ángle castro (University of Zaragoza) and Noemí Pereda (University of Barcelona).
