The SALUSEX Research Group presents the first edition of the Course in the Promotion of Sexual Health in Specific Groups.

The objectives of this course are as follows:

1. Understand the main threats to the mental health of members of the LGTBI+ community, the factors associated with stress in sexual minorities, the major milestones in the life of transgender individuals and the accompaniment and psychological intervention techniques from affirmative psychology in this population.
2. Understand the necessary components of prevention/intervention programmes, the methodologies that have proven effective and their implications, and acquire the necessary abilities required for the promotion of sexual health in individuals with physical and intellectual functional diversity.
3. Understand the necessary components of prevention/intervention programmes, the methodologies that have proven effective and their implications, and acquire the necessary abilities required for the promotion of sexual health in minors at risk of social exclusion (including sexual aggressors) and male and female sex workers.
4. Understand the necessary components of prevention/intervention programmes, the methodologies that have proven effective and their implications, and acquire the necessary abilities required for the promotion of sexual health in individuals with medical illnesses (cancer patients, heart disease, etc.) or mental health problems (anxiety disorders, depression, etc.)

The course will take place during the 2023/24 school year, from April to June, consisting of a total of 16.00 credits ECTS. The classes will be online with each session recorded and the activities can be completed throughout the week. In addition, there will be one hybrid session held each month, always on a Friday, dedicated to case analysis, which can be attended in person at the Faculty of Psychology from 3:30pm to 8:30pm This session will be live streamed for those who are unable to attend in person.
