The UV reasserts its commitment to excellency in hiring research staff

The Universitat de València will receive next 16 April the evaluation committee who will revise and ratify the seal “HR Excellence in Research”. This evaluation huge advance in consolidating the research quality of the UV since it recognises its commitment to excellence in hiring and developing research staff.

Obtaining and renovating this seal endorses the continuous effort of the Universitat de Valencia to align its human resources policies with the recommendations stablished by the European Union. This evaluation represents a fundamental milestone in the trajectory of the UV since this seal endorses its institutional compromise to excellency in hiring and developing researchers and reflects its decisive wager to constantly improve the selection and development processes of talented researchers.

The evaluation committee is composed by Dr. Monika Kowalik, specialist in scientific communication of the IUNG (Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation) of Poland; Dr. Karen Cacciattolo, expert in human resources management of the University of Malta and Dr. Carlo Amenta, specialist in economic and financial management  of the University of Palermo.

During the visit, the members of the committee will debate with the steering team and with the work group the aspects related to the efforts of the Universitat de València in the last five years to align its researchers hiring policies and strategies with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. In addition, the committee will ask for the opinion of researchers from every field of the university community to know first-hand the impact that the human resources policy of the UV has had in their trajectories. By the end of the day, the committee will summarize their impressions from the different reunions and suggest a series of measures and recommendations which will be incorporated to the action plan of the Universitat de València for the next 3 years on its path to keep the excellence seal. 

This evaluation is a new opportunity to prove that the Universitat de València is at the forefront, achieving and exceeding the standards stablished on an European level. This excellence seal reflects the joint effort of all the institutional actors who work to consolidate a management model based on the best international practices. 

‘The fact that we maintain this prestigious excellency seal reflects the firm commitment of the Universitat de València with guarantying fair, transparent and highly competitive hiring processes aligned with the recommendations of the European Union’, said the vice chancellor of Planning, Quality and Information Technologies Joaquín Aldás-Manzano. Along with the visit of the evaluation committee, the Universitat de València reasserts its will to ‘keep being a referent in the promotion of a first class research environment and in the continuous search of academic quality and excellence’, added the vice chancellor.
