Members of the EMPINNOVA research group participated in the 35th Annual Conference of the Spanish Academy of Management (ACEDE), held in Santander from 14 to 16 June 2026.
During the conference, researchers from the group presented several studies related to digital transformation, artificial intelligence, top management teams, organizational innovation, and the development of digital capabilities within firms. Participation in the conference provided an opportunity to share research findings, discuss new ideas, and receive valuable feedback from fellow scholars to further advance ongoing research projects.
The contributions presented included “Overcoming Family-Related Barriers to Digital Transformation: Evidence from TMT Attitudes”, by Paula Martínez-Sanchis, Anabel Fernández-Mesa and Joaquín Alegre; “Benefiting from Structural Ambidexterity: Insights from a Fintech Corporate Startup Studio”, by Joaquín Alegre Vidal, Carole Donada and Gwenaelle Nogatchewsky; “Driving Digital Transformation in SMEs: The Role of Top Management Team Practices and IT Perceptions”, by Maria Freixes Sancho, Àngels Dasí Coscollar and Anabel Fernández-Mesa; and “Artificial Intelligence Feedforward in Management Education: A Conceptual Model of Feedback, Self-Regulated Learning, and Competence Development”, by Paula Martínez-Sanchis, Joan Merin Rodrigañez and Meysam Moayery.
In addition, within the framework of a project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the paper “Unlocking Digital Transformation Through HRM and Employees’ Digital Skills”, authored by María Isabel Barba Aragón, Raquel Sanz Valle and José Piñera Salmerón, was also presented.
Beyond the parallel paper sessions, attendees had the opportunity to participate in keynote lectures delivered by Ruth V. Aguilera (Northeastern University) and Nicolai J. Foss (Copenhagen Business School), two internationally renowned scholars in the field of management. Their presentations addressed highly relevant issues concerning the impact of artificial intelligence on organizational transformation, responsible governance, and the future of universities and higher education from a management perspective.
Attending ACEDE 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen research networks, learn about emerging research streams, and continue contributing to the advancement of knowledge in EMPINNOVA’s areas of expertise.
