The objective of the Master’s Final Project (MFP) subject is for students to integrate and apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired throughout the Master’s course by developing an original project. This project can be developed as a clinical trial, including the design, the implementation, and the evaluation of protocols in patients, or as a rigorous bibliographical revision to a topical issue.
Under the supervision of a counsellor, students will define the purpose, the methods and the timeline of the project, as well as gather and analyse the data or scientific literature. Moreover, students will also create a structured memory which must include an introduction, the theoretical justification of the study, the methods followed, the results and the conclusions.
The MFP concludes with its presentation and public defence before a panel of professors who will grade the scientific quality of the project, the student’s ability to synthesise, how solid their arguments are, as well as their ability to respond to any questions the panel asks.
During the developing process, all documentation relevant to the students will be handled through the Virtual Classroom of the corresponding academic year.

The External Internships subject allows students to apply the skills and knowledge obtained throughout the Master’s course in a professional setting. These educational internships will take place in external centres such as clinics, hospitals, opticians’ clinics, specialised centres or healthcare organisations. In these, students will participate in assistance, diagnosing or managing activities related to optometry and vision science. This experiences allows students to develop professionally, to be in contact with the state of the industry and to improve their teamwork skills.
The external centres may be located near the University of Valencia or in other locations closer to the student’s home. The external centres must sign an agreement with the University of Valencia to carry out the clinical internships beforehand. At these centres, students will be assigned a company mentor (external tutor).
