Support and guidance bodies and services at the Universitat de València

The Universitat de València offers a range of information, guidance and support services designed to help students settle into university life, support their academic and personal development, and facilitate their subsequent entry into employment.
These services include:

Student Information and Engagement Service (SeDI): Provides students with information, guidance and advice on study programmes, grants and financial aid, mobility, university participation, student associations and volunteering. It also organises activities and programmes designed to help students integrate into university life and encourage their involvement in representative bodies.

UVempleo (UVocupació): The Universitat de València's careers guidance and employment service, primarily for current students and graduates. It offers individual advice, information on career opportunities, job-search tools, employability training and access to job vacancies.

ADEIT (University–Business Foundation of the Universitat de València): A foundation that promotes cooperation between the University and businesses and professional organisations. Its functions include managing external academic placements, helping students connect with companies, institutions and other partner organisations, and supporting the acquisition of professional experience.

UVdiscapacidad (UVdiscapacitat): The service responsible for promoting equal opportunities, accessibility and inclusion for students with disabilities or specific educational support needs. It provides guidance and advice, assesses individual needs, and proposes the academic adjustments and support resources required to help students pursue their university studies.

Student Services: The administrative unit responsible for managing various procedures relating to university studies, including pre-registration and admission to official master's degree programmes, coordination of enrolment processes, grants and financial aid, and other academic procedures.

Support and guidance bodies and services specific to the master's degree

Student guidance
Throughout the academic year, the Master's Programme Management Team and the Academic Coordination Committee (CCA) respond to student enquiries about academic organisation, the delivery of subjects and any issues that may arise. They provide guidance and, where appropriate, refer enquiries to the relevant university services.

The Virtual Classroom is also a key communication tool between teaching staff and students, providing access to teaching materials, activities, announcements and information relevant to following the subjects.
When students have specific educational support needs, the Master's Programme Management Team and the CCA work with the Universitat de València's specialist services, particularly UVdiscapacidad, to facilitate the implementation of appropriate support measures and academic adjustments.

Academic tutoring and student progress monitoring

Academic guidance and monitoring are provided by the teaching staff responsible for each subject, the Master's Programme Management Team and the Academic Coordination Committee.

Teaching staff advise students on subject content, learning activities and assessment systems, while the Programme Management Team and the CCA address questions concerning the overall organisation of the master's degree and students' academic progress.

Master's Thesis supervision

The Master's Thesis (TFM) is completed under the supervision of an academic supervisor, in accordance with the regulations of the Universitat de València and the programme's specific guidelines.

The Academic Coordination Committee, which also acts as the Master's Thesis Committee, is responsible for setting allocation criteria and ensuring that every student enrolled in the Master's Thesis subject is assigned a topic and an academic supervisor.

Topics and supervisors are allocated in accordance with the criteria established for the programme. These criteria may allow students to submit their own proposals, subject to agreement with the member of teaching staff who will supervise the work.

The academic supervisor guides students in planning and carrying out their thesis, oversees its progress, ensures that the agreed objectives are met and issues the corresponding academic report.

Where the Master's Thesis is undertaken in collaboration with an institution, organisation or company outside the Universitat de València, a supervisor from that external organisation will also be appointed to work with the academic supervisor throughout the project.

Student representation and participation

Students participate in the organisation and improvement of the master's degree primarily through their representation on the Academic Coordination Committee (CCA), the body responsible for the programme's academic planning, coordination and oversight.

The Master's Programme CCA includes student representation, enabling students' views, proposals and needs to be communicated and encouraging their involvement in the programme's monitoring and improvement processes.

Students may also participate in university representative bodies, such as Department Councils and other collegiate bodies, in accordance with the Universitat de València's electoral and representation regulations.

In addition, students may appoint a representative to act as a point of contact with the Master's Programme Management Team, helping to facilitate communication, convey suggestions and contribute to resolving issues that may arise during the academic year.

The Master's Programme Management Team and the Academic Coordination Committee encourage students to participate actively and take their contributions into account as part of the mechanisms for monitoring and continuously improving teaching quality.
