The Master's in Optometry and Vision Sciences has several options to complete the 60 ECTS credits that lead to the obtaining of the Title. These options can be chosen depending on the type of tuition (face-to-face or semi-face-to-face online), the chosen orientation (clinical or research) and the time of dedication (full time or part time).

Types of Registration:

  • On-site learning (P1 group): With compulsory attendance to all the theoretical classes, seminars, laboratories and clinical practices, as well as exams and reading of the Master’s Degree Final Project.
  • Online or blended learning (P2 group): The attendance is only compulsory to laboratories and clinical practices, as well as exams and reading of the Master’s Degree Final Project. In this case, the material and indications to follow the theoretical classes and seminars will be available in the Virtual Classroom of the Universitat.

Master’s Degree Orientation

  • Clinic: You must complete at least two of the following optional subjects: Pre and Post Surgery Optometrical Care, Ocular Surface, Community Optometry.
  • Research: The following optional subjects must be completed: Introduction to Research I and Introduction to Research II. The Research orientation is recommended for admission to the Doctorate Programme in Optometry and Vision Sciences of the Universitat de València, because this programme requires to have passed the subjects of Introduction to Research I and Introduction to Research II. In the case of choosing the clinical orientation, these subjects may be curated during the doctorate period.

Time of dedication:

  • Full-time (one year): 60 credits in the same academic year.
  • Part-time (two years): 60 credits distributed in two academic years.
  • If you decide to take the part-time Master’s Degree, it is recommended to distribute the teaching load in the two years, that is, approximately 30 credits per course.

Important: The Master’s Degree Final Project can only be submitted after having approved the rest of the subjects of the Master’s Degree that is, 6 ECTS credits for optional subjects and 42 ECTS credits for compulsory subjects. Therefore, if you take the part-time Master’s Degree, this subject must be included in the registration for the second year.
