ATLAS, an acronym for Applying Technology to languages, will be organising precisely four different programmes, under the XVIII edition of UNED’s summer courses. All the programmes are twenty hours long and will be held throughout three days, hold an official certification from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport (and can be exchanged for free election or formative credits), and can be followed on-site or online, live or pre-recorded.

The four courses are as follows:

• Introduction to Digital Humanities: new opportunities and perspectives for philologists. This training course serves as an introduction to the technologies that make the edition of electronic texts (both literary and non-literary) possible, and as proof of the research potential that the digitalization of bibliographic collections at national and European levels is creating. It will be held from June 27 to 29 at the UNED’s centre in Ponferrada.
• Learning languages through digital texts. Those who attend this programme will discover the new trends and problems surrounding the elaboration of materials for the teaching of a foreign language, in a digital context. Some of the themes to be addressed are the role of an online teacher or learning languages with recent technology advances (social media, microblogging) and those yet to arrive (virtual reality). Held from June 29 to July 1 in Madrid.
• Didactical possibilities for the use of audiovisual translation as a language teacher. Throughout three days, attendees will discover how to use audiovisual resources (subtitles, dubbing, audio description) in an educational environment. Application of these methods and different formats will be taught. From July 18 to 20, also in Madrid.
• The research dimension of an international career as a language teacher today: perspectives, challenges and opportunities. With this final course, the methodological and technological issues that allow for the integration of language teachers into research will be discussed. This course will help to both enrich the teaching skills of the attendee as well as fulfilling and exceeding the self-expectations of a researcher. Organised from July 20 to 22, at the UNED’s building in Denia.

Each course has a fixed price for students of the Master’s Degree in Creative and Humanistic Translation (or any other university degree) of 63€ before July 1 and of 75€ after that date. Online and on-site options are priced equally. These courses are open to teachers, students and researchers.
