The Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication of the Universitat de València will organise on 17 and 18 November an international symposium around the figure of the Swedish linguist Ferdinand de Saussure.
This year we celebrate a hundred years since the posthumous publication of the Cours de Linguistique Générale (1916, Paris), elaborated by Saussure’s pupils Charles Bally and Albert Sechehaye after his death.
So far, three lecturers have been confirmed: Miguel Casas (University of Cádiz), Antonio Domínguez (UNED) and Ángel López (UV). Two round tables have also been presented by now: “Originality and continuance of the Saussure’s work” (moderated by Enric Serra, director of the Master’s degree in Creative and Humanistic Translation) and “Applications of the linguistics by Saussure” (Moderated by Miguel Fuster).
The proposals should be submitted before 15 September. For non-lecturers, the inscription for the symposium must be formalised before 11 November, with a cost of 20€.
