The Master’s Thesis (TFM) is a compulsory subject consisting of the individual completion of an original academic work, either experimental or review-based, related to the field of functional recovery in physiotherapy.
Its purpose is for students to acquire competencies in the process of research and scientific communication, from defining the topic and methodological design to the writing, presentation, and defense of the work.
Students will choose their supervisor from the Faculty of the Department of Physiotherapy, according to their admission grade ranking in the master’s program and in line with the available research lines. The supervisor will guide the student in selecting the topic, methodological development, and preparation of the final report, and, when appropriate, will authorize the public defense.
The subject combines autonomous work (bibliographic search, critical analysis, written elaboration, and preparation of the presentation) with personalized tutorials, either face-to-face or online. It contemplates various types of Master’s Theses (case reports, case series, observational or experimental studies, validation of tools, research projects, or systematized literature reviews), all of which must adhere to ethical and scientific criteria.
Evaluation includes continuous review by the supervisor and culminates with an oral defense before an academic committee.
The course is monitored through the Virtual Classroom, which provides access to regulations, templates, plagiarism control, and document submission.
Specific guidelines are included in the Master’s Thesis Manual, approved annually by the Academic Coordination Committee of the master’s program and also available in the Virtual Classroom.
The subject complies with the Regulations of official postgraduate studies and Regulations TFM of the University of Valencia.
