Graduate with extraordinary prize and second national prize for completion of university studies in mathematics (1993), doctor in mathematical sciences (1997) from the University of Valencia (UV). I am currently a university professor at the Faculty of Mathematics of the UV, a university where I have been serving since 2013. Previously I have served at the UV (1993-1997, as an associate professor and with a predoctoral contract) and at the Department of Applied Mathematics of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (1997-2013). I have taught undergraduate/degree subjects in Mathematics and doctoral/master's degrees in Mathematics, as well as undergraduate/engineering subjects in Computer Science and Data Science. My research work has contributed notably to the progress of knowledge in abstract group theory, linear algebra, automata theory and formal languages and in fathom theory and the Yang-Baxter equation, answering open questions in these theories and opening new lines of research. I have published 85 scientific articles in prestigious international journals that appear in very prominent positions in the most internationally recognized impact lists. I have published a research book, 'Products of fintie groups', with A. Ballester Bolniches and M. Asaad, W. de Gruyter, 2010, which is a basic reference in group theory, with 435 citations to date taking as Google Scholar source. I have also been co-author of 4 teaching books and several books of conference proceedings and activities. The number of citations of my publications is 1218, with an h-index equal to 17, taking Google Scholar as a source. I have participated in 13 competitive research projects subsidized by national (10) and international (3) public organizations from 1998 to the present. My participation in international research groups from China, France and the Dominican Republic has been partially financed by the 3 research projects subsidized by international organizations. I have participated in international research groups based in Saudi Arabia (1), Australia (1), Belarus (1), Egypt (2), United States (2), Italy (2), Israel (1), Netherlands (1), People's Republic of China (3), Dominican Republic (1), South African Republic (1), Ukraine (1). I have presented papers at 52 international conferences, of which 15 have been given as a keynote speaker. I am an advisor (referee) to more than 70 scientific journals, a member of the editorial board of 2 scientific journals and a reviewer of 'Mathematical Reviews' and 'zbMath'. I have made 10 visits to various foreign universities within the framework of collaboration projects, in which I have taught postgraduate courses and carried out research tasks. I am an advisor to Spanish and foreign project evaluation agencies (Colombia). I have been an evaluator of postgraduate works and doctoral theses at other universities, as well as I have advised hiring and promotion committees at other universities. I have supervised 2 doctoral theses and 5 master's theses/third-cycle research projects. I have been director of the Department of Mathematics of the UV since December 2022. I have been recognized for five five-year teaching periods and four six-year research periods. |

Vicent Pérez-Calabuig is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Universitat de València. He obtained his PhD in 2018 from the Universitat de València and the Universitat Politècnica de València. He has participated in several publicly funded research projects and his research is mainly focused on group theory, with applications to other algebraic structures such as semigroups, and more recently to the theory of skew braces and their connection with solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. His main contributions include the structural study of groups, the analysis of profinite topologies related to the structure of semigroups, and the investigation of algebraic properties of skew braces aimed at characterising the classification of solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. He is currently teaching undergraduate courses in the degree of Mathematics and other Science degrees in the areas of Algebra and Applied Mathematics. |

Biography | ||

I’ve been teaching math since 1998, and being restless by nature, I’ve delved into all areas of education—from the classroom and research to teacher training and institutional roles in both public and private spheres. This has given me a deep understanding of how people learn and how to manage teams effectively. Every step of my career has served a purpose, but given today's new educational challenges, I feel the need to start a new chapter to tackle the final stage of my professional life with energy and a fresh perspective. |

Graduated and PhD in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Valencia, she carries out her teaching, research, and university management work in a balanced way, with outstanding international projection. She has held several positions of responsibility: she served as Secretary of the Department of Algebra (2005–2008), Secretary of the Faculty of Mathematics in two periods (2009–2011 and 2018–2021), and, since September 2023, she has been serving as Vice-Dean, a position renewed in July 2024, thus beginning her third term in different dean teams. Moreover, she has coordinated the Degree in Mathematics and currently coordinates the first year of the Degree in Mathematics and the Double Degree in Physics–Mathematics, as well as the EntreIguals mentoring program since the 2024–2025 academic year. Her teaching activity includes subjects in the area of Algebra within the Mathematics program and in various Engineering degrees, both single and double. Internationally, she teaches at the Università degli Studi di Firenze within the Erasmus+ framework (2015–2025), covering undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral courses. She was a visiting professor at Ohio University(2001 and 2002). In the field of teaching innovation, she participates in innovation projects at the University of Valencia and, since 2021, has been co-organizer of the Jornades d’Innovació Docent en Matemàtiques en Educació Superior (Teaching Innovation Days in Higher Education Mathematics). Her research focuses on finite group theory, representation theory, and character theory. Throughout her research career, she has taken part in 14 competitive R&D&I projects (2001–2027), several of them as principal investigator, with national and regional funding, and has published her findings in high-impact journals in her field. She holds four recognized research periods (sexenios), the most recent granted in 2021. In 2017, she chaired the organizing committee of the IV Congress of Young Researchers of the Spanish Royal Mathematical Society, has co-organized the biennial international conference Groups in Florence since 2016, and has completed research stays at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the Università degli Studi di Firenze, supported by postdoctoral fellowships and national and regional programs. She has served on committees and doctoral thesis examination boards in Spain and Italy, has co-supervised one PhD thesis, is currently co-supervising another, and has supervised numerous bachelor’s and master’s theses. |
