The UV deals with transverse green policies in tourism

In accordance with the agreement to create the Inter-University Chair for a New Green Transition, the University of Valencia is responsible for Axis 2, which deals with transversal green policies in the productive sectors, specifically tourism.

The promotion of policies aimed at obtaining housing and its sustainable urban environment, within the framework of the ecological transition, must be tackled from the different productive sectors, in order to focus on reconstruction and economic-labour policies, stressing the cross-cutting nature of the commitments to sustainable development. They consider the need to face the serious and urgent problems of global warming and climate change, betting on the ecological transition and environmental sustainability, they demand that the impulse of the main economic sectors of the Valencian Community and the Spanish State integrates the so-called "green policies". Both institutions understand that tourism is one of the fundamental sectors for the development of the Valencian productive-labour model with a particular impact on the habitat, and that, in the scenario of reconstruction, the proposal is to advance in the reflection and analysis of the situation and the management of the impacts that tourism activity has on the Valencian habitat, both urban and rural, as well as the proposal of development policies of the sector from eco-sustainable approaches.

Specifically, the UV, through the New Green Transition Chair, is responsible for the following activities:

  1. In the first place, to carry out an activity of reflection, analysis and dissemination of knowledge to society, as regards tourism, habitat and ecological transition, in the terms indicated above.
  2. In addition, to facilitate diverse activities such as: seminars, conferences, talks, competitions, presentations, studies, workshops, courses; training and university extension activities; as well as other cultural activities to be agreed upon later, related to the theme of the Chair, the Second Vice-presidency, and the Regional Ministry of Housing and Bioclimatic Architecture.
  3. To carry out informative work throughout the Valencian territory, and by means of information technology on the activities of the Chair and the specific themes related to the work of the Chair, the Second Vice-Presidency, and the Regional Ministry of Housing and Bioclimatic Architecture, as well as the publication of those writings that may be of interest to both.
  4. And all the different actions to be carried out within the programme of activities to be developed, approved annually by the Comisión Mixta (Joint Commission).
