Commitments

  1. Universal open access to scientific output. The University of Valencia commits to achieving full open access to scientific publications through repository deposit, publication in open access journals and platforms, and participation in transformative agreements or sustainable publishing models such as the diamond model.
  2. Transparency and monitoring of open access. The number of peer-reviewed open access scientific publications should be monitored annually, broken down by document type, discipline, department and publication channel. These data will be published in an institutional open science report accessible to the entire university community.
  3. Control and sustainability of publication expenditure. The return on investment derived from the payment of APCs (Article Processing Charges) managed within the framework of transformative agreements signed with publishers should be analysed, with the aim of ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximising the impact of open access publishing.
  4. Open access to research data. The University of Valencia should promote the deposit of research data in open access, with standardised metadata and in accordance with FAIR principles, in institutional, thematic or general repositories. Guidelines and support resources should be established to ensure compliance with the requirements set by funding agencies and by this policy.
  5. Recognition and assessment of commitment to open science. An academic and institutional recognition system should be designed for researchers and units that stand out for their commitment to open science, including qualitative assessment criteria that value openness, social impact, interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement in citizen science processes.
  6. Institutional indicators and accountability. A set of strategic and operational indicators should be established to assess the degree of compliance with the commitments undertaken. The Open Science Committee should review these indicators annually and prepare a public monitoring report, in coordination with the Vice-Rectorate for Research.
  7. Promotion of training and culture in open science. The UV commits to implementing an institutional training plan in open science, aimed at all university communities. This plan should include modules on open access, data management, responsible research assessment, citizen science and publication ethics.
