The Research Group on the Reception of Classical Literature (GIRLC) is organising an interdisciplinary scientific meeting to discuss the configuration of the literary genres of the bestiary and metamorphosis. These genres played a decisive role in Classical literature and continued to influence medieval and modern literature. The meeting will explore their Classical models and reception.

This meeting addresses the same problem as the previous editions since 2008: the prevalence of ancient literature, particularly in medieval literature and, subsequently, in modern and contemporary literature. Participants will first discuss the reception of Greek and Latin literature in different national literatures. Then, they will focus on authors, works and specific texts of particular relevance. The main goals are to showcase the Group’s research on the reception of Latin and Greek literature in medieval Catalan literature, and to promote an inclusive research process that integrates the expertise and contributions of experts from diverse fields.
