Scientific conferences. Valencia, 12 and 13 November 2015
This seminar aims to discuss the direct or indirect knowledge of Classical languages and corresponding literatures within the framework of Hispanic cultures in the late Middle Ages. The analysis focuses on translations, including those works that were retranslated from another language, such as Italian, French, Arabic, etc. The debate focuses on the theory of translation, not only in literary translation, applied to a multicultural context undergoing significant changes. These changes include the colonisation of America, Africa and Asia, the formation of nation-states and the emergence of capitalist economic structures. These cultural changes overlap with the development of the printing press and universities, among other factors.
