Presentation

GENERIZA is a virtual community integrated into the teaching innovation project Generiza: Promoting a Gender Perspective in University Teaching, Learning, and Student Research. Its main goal is to develop training and teaching activities aimed at promoting the incorporation of a gender perspective in university education and learning processes through international collaborative work between faculty and students from four universities: the University of Valencia, Università degli Studi Roma Tre, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), and Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil).

This teaching innovation project is aligned with the equality policy objectives of the University of Valencia and reflects its commitment to questioning androcentric knowledge, fostering equality both in academia and in the content of teaching and research. It also has the support of the Vice-Rectorate for Lifelong Learning, Teaching Transformation and Employment, as well as the Equality Unit of the University of Valencia.

The project involves an international team of 12 faculty members from four universities —Spanish, Italian, Peruvian, and Brazilian— and covers a total of 27 courses across 18 degree programmes: 8 undergraduate, 1 postgraduate, 10 master’s, and 2 doctoral programmes in various areas of the humanities and social sciences. In addition, 14 students participate as project members (6 PhD, 5 master’s, and 3 undergraduate students).

The project also includes collaboration with two civil society organisations —Tela para el Kambio and Som Llar— which apply gender equality policies both in their structure and in their activities. Furthermore, it remains open to the participation of any institution or member of the academic community, nationally or internationally, who shares its objectives and wishes to take part in its activities.
