Synchronous teaching is carried out in real time and can take place in the classroom or through virtual tools that allow live interaction.
In the case of virtual teaching, we recommend:
- Plan weekly.
- Set an objective for each session and communicate it specifically.
- Plan the attendance of all participants.
- Keep any resources or materials easily available to the students.
- Actively ask students to prepare for the session (prepare an idea, question, topic or assigned reading in advance).
- Flexibility.
- Aim for short sessions. For longer sessions, plan breaks.
- Think about logistics: know the software, limit distractions, provide guidance to students when necessary and have a contingency plan if the connection fails.
