RESULTS

This project has been developed in one of the least known and most rural provinces in eastern Colombia: García Rovira, in the department of Santander. As a general objective, the aim has been to contribute to the revitalization of the Civil Society Natural Reserve, La Llanada, with the aim of raising awareness and involving the local population in the care of its natural heritage, so that it is possible to promote activities that contribute to sustainable development, in a highly rural territory that longs to overcome the scars of the Colombian armed conflict.

Specifically, this project has managed to put the environmental and heritage importance of the La Llanada Civil Society Natural Reserve at the center of academic and social attention in Málaga and Concepción. During our stay in Colombia, meetings have been held both with the Otero family and with the teaching staff and students of the Malaga campus of the University.

Industrial of Santander and with numerous neighbors in the area. Three-day sessions were held with talks and workshops that took place on the campus and in La Llanada. To this we must add the construction and panels of the “Los Ancestros” ecotourism trail and the creation of a board of trustees for the management of this important natural space. In short, environmental awareness about the importance of this space has increased, and it has been provided with tools and resources for its development as an ecotourism project.
