Women’s Legacy: Learning with female mentors

alt=

The lack of female mentors, a widespread problem in all teaching levels, is one of the most noteworthy and persistent educational shortage there is. This absence has severe cultural implications, as it cheats us out of an important part of the cultural heritage that belongs to all of us, and we are presented with an extremely biased cultural, social and scientific narrative that is sustained mainly on male works, as if it was universal.

To face this situation, the Women’s Legacy project has generated teaching intervention tools that allow us to recover the cultural heritage of women in all subjects and cultures to include it in the classrooms through teaching activities, the understanding of their works and, above all, the methodological proposal that lets us adequately include these mentors and their works into the syllabus.
