On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Universitat de València organises a main event focused on reflecting about the new forms of violence against women in the digital world. The session, entitled 'Trampas, fakes, engaños y OnlyFans' ('Traps, fakes, tricks and OnlyFans'), will specially address the OnlyFans phenomenon and its connection to pornography and prostitution, from a feminist and critical point of view.

Professor Berta Chulvi from the Department of Social Psychology will present and moderate the session, in which reports made by Save the Childrena and the Federation of Young Women will be disclosed, with data and analysis regarding the impact of these platforms on the construction of gender roles, the hypersexualisation and the vulnerability of young women.

Moreover, in the panel session there will be young voices  that are relevant in the digital world, such as Clara Burriel and Laura Barrios, in representation of the entities that made the reports, or Carla Galeaote and Mara Mariño, referents in feminist dissemination in social media. With them, it will take place a collective reflection about the fragile borders among the exercise of sexual freedom, social and economic pressure, and the diverse forms of sexual violence developed online.  

With this initiative, the Universitat de València reaffirms its commitement to gender equality, the prevention of violence against women and the critical education of the university comunity before the challenges that new digital realities present.
