
The opening of the exhibition Pastor Sanctus Virtutis Cultor took place last Monday, 21 March, at 20:00 pm. The legacy of the patriarch Juan de Ribera in its fourth centenary, installed until 4 June at the Real Colegio-Seminario de Corpus Christi. It has been curated by the professor of the Department of Art History of the University of Valencia and director of the Museum of the Real Colegio-Seminario de Corpus Christi, Daniel Benito Goerlich and by D. Miguel Navarro Sorní, Vice-principal of the Institution and professor of the Faculty of Theology. It was organised by the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community and the Institution itself.
The exhibition Pastor Sanctus Virtutis Cultor will be opened today, Monday 21 March, at 20:00 pm. The legacy of the patriarch Juan de Ribera in its fourth centenary, installed until 4 June at the Real Colegio-Seminario de Corpus Christi.
The exhibition will be displayed in various relevant spaces of the building, such as the main chapel, the refectory, the cloister, the museum or the memorial chapel and other spaces which have been never open to the public. Visitors will be able to know the importance of the figure of Patriarca Ribera, and his relationship with the Valencia and Spain of the 16th century and early the 17th century.
There will be pictorial, sculptural, literary, textile and liturgical works, as well as other elements related to him, to the celebrations which still are held as the founder of the Institution laid in its constitution, and to the artistic and historical relevance of the architecture and ornamentation of the building itself.
The curators of the exhibition are the professor of the Department of Art History of the University of Valencia and director of the Museum of the Real Colegio-Seminario de Corpus Christi, Daniel Benito Goerlich and by D. Miguel Navarro Sorní, Vice-principal of the Institution and professor of the Faculty of Theology. It was organised by the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community and the Institution itself.
Visiting hours from Tuesday to Sunday are:
- Mornings: 11-13 h
- Afternoons: 17-19 h (except on Thursdays, from 17:00 h a 18:30 h).
Trained people are needed to guide and attend visitors.
The Real Colegio-Seminario de Corpus Christi needs volunteers to help with one of the most important exhibitions of the year. No prior professional experience or academic qualification is necessary, only a great interest and enthusiasm to work in one of the most significant places of the history of the city of Valencia and, above all, be aware of the importance the conservation and promotion of the heritage on display.
The exhibition will be open from 22 March to 4 June. The Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community and the Real Colegio-Seminario de Corpus Christi will give a certificate of collaboration to participants, to attest that they have worked a minimum of 10 hours in this cultural task.
The duties to be carried out are:
- Control of the room (including interaction with the visitor)
- Guided tours (only if the person is willing)
