Purpose of the grant

The purpose of the grant is the partial funding of the support to doctoral studies students for training activities like, courses, workshops and seminars. The training activities shall be addressed to a collective, accompanied by a call, have a programme and its professors must have established expertise.  Grants will not be given to the training activities that can be carried out with a cost lower than the budget.

Beneficiaries

The grants are addressed to students enrolled in a doctoral programme of the Universitat de València directed by a researcher of the ICBiBE, when the doctoral candidate has not previously received the grant in that very same year.

Concepts eligible for the grant

The concepts that can receive a partial grant are the enrollment or registration costs, the travel and stay expenses, to which the usual criteria for service commissions will be applied.

Budget, periodic grant call and implementation period

Annually a budget to fund these grants will be approved. This budget will be divided in two equal parts to be distributed in half-yearly calls. It will be possible to apply for the grants during the months of December and June. The activity to be funded must have been carried out during the semester prior to the call or it should be carried out within the next twelve months following the call. That is:

• December call: applications for activities carried out between previous year’s July and current year’s December, or applications for activities to be carried out within the twelve months following the call.
• June call: applications for activities carried out between current year’s Janyary and June, or applications for activities to be carried out within the twelve months following the call.

Exceptionally, for those courses or seminars that for any reason cannot meet the temporary requirements established in this regulation, the possibility of funding will be considered always that there are funds remaining from the previous call.

Amount of the grants

Each grant of the ICBiBE shall not exceed two-thirds of the total budget for an activity, with a maximum of 700€ annually revised. This is the maximum amount and it shall be adjusted according to the six-month budget assigned to these grants and according to the number of approved applications.

Conditions

These grants are compatible with any other grant obtained from external entities for the same activity, if the external grants do not exceed the two-thirds of the total budget of the activity. In case that they do not exceed it, the maximum amount given by the ICBiBE will supplement the two-thirds of the budget. The grants will be payed out after the presentation of an expenditure report, with the possibility of applying for advance payment according to the usual criteria.

Decision

the Permanent Board will decide about the applications in January and July of the current year and will set up the economical aspects of the Grants Programme.
