The Environmental Radioactivity Laboratory of the Universitat de València has available for the university community and society a series of instrumental techniques of analysis for the determination of contents in radioactive isotopes in environmental samples.

Traditionally, the Environmental Radioactivity Laboratory of the Universitat de València meets the demands of the Nuclear Safety Council in relation to the REM program (Sampling Station Network). Also, it develops the Quality Control of the PVRA of the Power Plant Station of Cofrentes (agreement with the Valencian Government), as well as the water analysis (according to Royal Decree 3/2023 of January 10, which establishes the technical-sanitary criteria of the quality of drinking water, its control and supply). All these programmes are oriented towards the control of environmental radioactivity.

Believing that quality is a priority in the development of our activities, we consider that the establishment and implementation of a quality management system, in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard, is a key element for proving the competence of LARAM in its production of results that are technically valid and within the limits of the current legislation.

This commitment is reflected in the following principles:

  • To promote quality in the services offered to clients.
  • To detect, satisfy and meet the requirements of our clients and also legal requirements and those of our organisation.
  • To keep updated our staff's knowledge and the knowledge on the different processes' application technology.
  • To ensure the integrity, impartiality, confidentiality and independence of the technical judgments made.
  • To ensure that the staff involved in the testing activities is trained for the functions assigned and conscious of the importance of their activity and how they contribute to the achievements of LARAM.

Also, the Office of the Director of LARAM endorses their commitment to accomplish the requirements of the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard and to continuously maintain, correct and improve the effectiveness of the quality management system.
