The principal Mª Vicenta Mestre attends the XIII Health Exhibition

Today, 21st April, on the occasion of the World Health Day, it takes place an event organised by the Valencian Medical Student Association (AVEM) in collaboration with the Universitat de València, the Valencian Medical Association and the Council of València, through the Office for Public Health.

The XII edition of the Health Exhibition was held in Plaza de la Virgen, València. More than 300 undergraduate students of Medicine, Odontology and Physiotherapy of the Universitat de València participated in the event. Apart from the principal Mª Vicenta Mestre, the event also counted on the presence of the dean of Medicine, Javier Chorro; the dean of Physiotherapy, Antonio Alberola; the dean of Pharmacy, Juan Carlos Moltó; and the councillor of Public Health, Maite Girau.

The Health Exhibition aims to promote healthy habits among citizens and also to inform about current and frequent public health problems. This way, assistants can visit all the tents and learn about cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, sign language, dermatological examination or even how to measure blood glucose levels and blood pressure, among others. In addition, there will be workshops of sexuality and how to prevent sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), alcoholism and drug abuse.

This event aims to approach medicine and medical professional to the general public. Along with public institutions, some charitable associations will participate, such as Médicos sin Fronteras and Cruz Roja.
