The four elements of nature inspire the lecture series “Nature: Our origin, our future. The Science of the four elements” around the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Desertification Research Center (CIDE, CSIC, UV, GVA). During these 25 years, the CIDE has deepened its research on the scientific aspects crucial to understand the space we inhabit and on which we depend, focusing on the fight against the threat of desertification of Mediterranean ecosystems.
Water, air, fire and earth symbolize what constitutes in essence the variety of ecosystems, species and genes that surround us and that form our natural capital. Capital that represents our life insurance, provides us with food, drinking water, clean air, ... in short, a whole series of environmental services that satisfy our current and future vital needs.
25 years later, environmental problems continue to be strategic issues, of increasing relevance, on which it is necessary to continue researching in order to be able to provide answers. Through the different lectures that make up this series of conferences, we want to bring closer to society those scientific aspects that allow understanding the current state of the most relevant environmental issues, and in particular, the risk and potential impact of desertification and climate change on ecosystems and human beings.
The cycle will take place at the Casa de la Ciencia, a benchmark for the popularization of science in the city of Valencia, and is open to all those who wish to know what is happening in the natural environment we inhabit and on which we depend.
Lecture series organized by the Desertification Research Center (CIDE, CSIC-UV-GVA) and the Casa de la Ciència of the CSIC in Valencia. All the lectures will take place on Wednesdays at 7 pm at the Casa de la Ciència (C/ Bailía, 1, València) and will be broadcasted live on the YouTube channel:

Free admission until full capacity is reached.
