In the current context of global change and biodiversity crisis, it is essential to be able to accurately assess the vulnerability of species and ecosystems to changes in their environment. However, there are still major gaps in our knowledge about the conservation status of many species, which is particularly evident in plants. Due to the difficulty of assessing the conservation status of a large number of organisms, it is useful to employ indirect indicators that provide information about their dynamics and threats at different spatial and temporal scales. Rarity, understood as those biological or ecological characteristics that limit the abundance or distribution of a species, can be used for this purpose as it is associated with greater vulnerability to extinction and environmental change. This talk explores the relationship between rarity and vulnerability in the flora of the Pyrenees and the Autonomous Community of Aragon, covering various ecological scales, from habitats to individual populations, in order to better understand their threats, vulnerabilities and the potential consequences of their loss.
