There are different processes that affect fibers once they have been released into the environment, with photodegradation being the most common and effective. Recreating this type of degradation in the laboratory is usually very time consuming; however, protocols can be applied to accelerate this process. This seminar will present some results of the study of the release and degradation of PES fibers, before and after washing, using an accelerated hydrolytic degradation protocol.
