The Desertification Research Center (CIDE, CSIC-UV-GVA) organizes 'Desertroom: escape with science', an informative activity for high school students. It is an escape room in which, through different workshops, visitors, high school students from Valencian schools, will learn about the processes studied at the CIDE and the importance of this research for society. This activity uses and adapts the philosophy of escape games, which combine mental adventure with entertainment.
The aim is to contribute to the scientific culture of students in environmental issues, specifically in desertification, its causes and processes. Doing it from an interactive approach and using different formats to explain science in a fun and entertaining way, the ultimate goal is to awaken future scientific vocations.
This activity is organized with funding from the Fundación General CSIC through the Cuenta la Ciencia program, and with the collaboration of the CSIC Delegation in Aragón and the Experimental Station of Aula Dei. It will be held at CIDE from 2 to 5 November, open and free for groups with prior reservation at the following e-mail address cide25aniversario@csic.es.
