Central Service for Experimental Research: SCSIE.
Located on the Burjassot Campus, the Universitat de València provides its researchers with the "Central (Support) Service for Experimental Research (SCSIE)".
The SCSIE is a general service of technological resources whose aim is to provide centralised and integral support to the research of the university community and to public and private companies and institutions. It is directly managed by the Universitat de València and is functionally dependent on the Office of the Vice-Principal for Research and Science Policy. The central unit of the SCSIE was created in 1993 on the Burjassot Campus and also has facilities in the Faculty of Medicine (Central Research Unit in Medicine, UCIM) and at the Science Park of the Universitat de València. In order to offer a top quality service, the SCSIE has a state-of-the-art instrumental infrastructure and the best technical staff specialised in each of the areas. It is organised into 14 sections that include the following scientific and technical services applicable to different areas of research, health and industry: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, X-Ray, Mass Spectrometry, Atomic Spectroscopy, Optical and Electron Microscopy, Genomics, Proteomics, Bioinformatics, Glassblowing Workshop, Cell Cultures, Aquarium Plant, Animal Production, Greenhouses and Environmental Radioactivity. Its aims are, among others, to solve problems related to: characterisation and analysis of raw materials; structural determination of organic and inorganic substances and compounds; morphological studies of all types of inorganic and biological materials, using high-resolution scanning and transmission electron microscopy and confocal microscopy techniques; environmental impact assessment; determination of total #/# indices in air, water, soil and sediments; nucleic acid sequencing; analysis of agri-food products; detection of transgenic material; diagnosis of hereditary diseases; gene identification in animal and plant breeding; forensic genetic testing; etc. The SCSIE technology platforms support chemical, ceramics, plastics, textile, pharmaceutical, biomedical and clinical industries, etc., mainly located in the Valencian Community and, in addition to offering services, they provide technical assistance and actively participate in national and international technological development and research projects.

Institute of Biomedicine of Valencia (IBV)
The Institute of Biomedicine of Valencia (IBV) is located in a building that dates back to 1963 and was previously occupied by the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA). In 1995, when the IATA moved to the UV Campus in Paterna, the CSIC decided to renovate the old building to create a biomedical institute. This complete renovation, which cost about €2 million, was carried out between 1996 and 1998. The Institute of Biomedicine of Valencia was inaugurated in August 1998. The building is located in the metropolitan area of Valencia and is part of the medical sciences campus of the Universitat de València, only 100-500 m from the Office of the Principal, the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, the School of Nursing, and the School of Sports Medicine. It is 2-4 km from the new La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital (the largest public hospital in Valencia and one of the largest in Spain), the Príncipe Felipe Research Centre, and the Universitat Politècnica de València, which houses two CSIC institutes, one for Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology and the other for Chemical Technology. Thus, the IBV is ideally situated for academic and translational biomedical research.

Furthermore, the Universitat de València also has centralised services that collaborate in the development of the Doctoral Programme:
- Postgraduate Centre: It brings together the central administrative support structure of the Universitat de València for master's and doctoral studies. This centre includes the Doctoral Unit, which employs 7 people in charge of the administrative management of PhD students.
Lifelong Learning and Educational Innovation Service (SFPIE): In charge of organising and teaching transversal training activities (activities 1 and 2 of the Doctoral Programme).
Quality Unit: It will be in charge of coordinating and managing the processes of evaluation and improvement of the quality of the Universitat de València, including doctoral studies.
Professional Placement and Careers Advice Monitoring Centre (OPAL): Its mission is to help all students and graduates of the Universitat de València to enter the labour market and to improve their professional possibilities. Among other functions, they will be in charge of coordinating the monitoring of PhD graduates.
Provision for obtaining external resources to support PhD students in their training. The funding required for the proper functioning of the programme includes, from the point of view of PhD students, grants, mobility fellowships and funding for attendance at international conferences and meetings.
The sources of funding are mainly of three types and the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme is committed to using all existing channels to finance the programme:
1. Calls aimed at the PhD students themselves. In this type of call, those responsible for obtaining resources are mainly There are numerous calls of this type:
• National calls for mobility.
• Calls for mobility of the UVEG.
• National calls for doctoral fellowships.
• Regional calls for doctoral fellowships.
• Calls for doctoral fellowships of the UVEG.
• UVEG grants to attend international conferences.
2. Calls aimed at research groups. In this type of call, those responsible for obtaining resources are the research There are numerous calls of this type:
• Calls for projects of the European Framework Programme.
• Calls for projects of the National Plan.
• Regional calls for research projects.
• Projects with companies.
With regard to the provisions for obtaining external resources, the information on the projects obtained by the research groups participating in the Doctoral Programme makes it possible to ensure that the Programme is able to guarantee the necessary support for the training of its PhD students.
As for the number of PhD students who obtain funding, we can say that all those who have entered with some kind of fellowship have received funding, as they have been integrated into a research group that has covered all the research costs, since all the groups in the programme have enough projects to finance their research. In the case of other PhD students there are not as many guarantees of funding, however, all those we have had in recent years were part of research groups that have also been funding stays, conference attendance, etc., therefore, until now, all PhD students in previous programmes have also received funding.
