 “Learning by exporting e innovación en una economía emergente”.
The speaker is an associate professor at the University of Manizales. He is currently studying his third year of his PhD. Héctor Mauricio Serna has been a visiting professor at universities in Mexico and Argentina. He is currently the director of Research and Postgraduate Studies at said university. His research area is regional economics and business management.
The seminar will be coordinated and presented by professor Joaquín Alegre (joaquin.alegre@uv.es).

Abstract
The doctoral thesis proposal aims to analyse the moderating effect of human capital and absorption capacity in the relationship between export and innovation in the company. The concept of “learning by exporting” has been approached from the premium in productivity that companies achieve through their participation or opening of new markets, and the analysis of its effects on innovation is recent. The context to be analysed will be the Colombian manufacturing sector, the information collected by the National Administrative Department of Statistics will be analysed through the national innovation survey taking 2003 – 2018 as the period, which allows for an analysis period of 13 years. Among the main results of the study, it is expected to identify the “learning by exporting” effect seen from the capacity of acquisition and assimilation of information from international markets, the moderating capacity of human capital and the absorption capacity in the relationship between export and innovation, and tries to establish public policy recommendations that allow mobilizing industrial development programs that allow the international opening of the industrial sector in the country.
