Doctoral Programme has the Mention for Excellence, awarded by Resolution of 6 October 2011, of the General Secretary of Universities. Only eight Doctoral Programmes in Law has this mention in Spain. This mention shows “the recognition of the scientific, technical and educational solvency of doctoral programmes” as well as research groups or departments that deal with the training of doctors.
The Doctoral Programme in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice is a proposal of the Institute of Human Rights of the University of Valencia (IUDHUV) and its main aim is to provide advanced training in research techniques for obtaining official Doctoral Degree, the highest academic qualification within our educational system.
The Doctoral Programme is multidisciplinary, this is, it includes different areas of knowledge (Constitutional Law, Labour and Social Security Law, Public International Law and International Relations, Criminal Law, Litigation, Legal History, Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy), which allows pooling and confront different visions of human rights and in the interest of research, a model of innovative work and adapted to the new requirements of the EHEA.
The IUDHUV participates in the Consolider Ingenio 2010 programme “El tiempo de los derechos” (Time of Rights) (HURI-AGE) formed by a large group of master professors to promote strategic actions capable of marking a turning point and encourage a leap of quality in legal research on Human Rights. The link between the Doctoral Studies and Consolider Programme is a recognition of the scientific, technical and educational soundness of the overall programme and professors who develop the doctoral training.
The Doctoral Programme in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice consists in two periods: training and research. The training period consists of the Master’s Degree in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice, qualification subject to verification by the ANECA. The training period, including access and admission to it is the responsibility of the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de València. The research period, including access and admission to it is the responsibility of the Human Rights Institute and the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de València.
