Specific Training activities

Doctoral students must take the following specific training activities:

  •  Preparation of an article for its publication in a scientific journal (Code 50054).
  •  Doctoral Studies training sessions of the Faculty of Medicine:Human Ethics Committee, Animal Experimentation, Clinical Trial, Bibliography and Methodology of Research, Administrative Guidance. (Code 50174).
  • Attendance and Participation in a Scientific Conference of the specialisation (Code 50175).

Specific activity Code: 50054


Name of the activity: Preparation of an article for its publication in a scientific journal.

Number of hours: 15.

Type: Compulsory.

Planning of the training activity : Throughout the studies, both for full-time and part-time students.

Details: Doctoral students should prepare a scientific article, related to their doctoral research. They should send it to the corresponding delivery note by the journal.

Language in which will be held: Spanish, Valencian or English.

Learning outcomes: Presentation of the publication

Specific activity Code: 50174


Name of the activity: Doctoral Studies training sessions of the Faculty of Medicine.

Number of hours: 15.

Type: Compulsory.

Temporary planning of the training activity

.- First or second year for full-time students. 

.-First, second or third year for part-time students  

Details: Specific activity organised by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the Universitat de València in order that students know the rules that are applied in ethics regarding human studies, animal testing, clinical trials, bibliography and research methodology and administrative guidance.

The activity will consist of a conference to be held in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry with the following contents:

· Human Ethics Committee (3 hours)

· Animal Testing (3 hours)

· Clinical Trials (3 hours)

· Bibliography and Research Methodology (3 hours)

· Administrative Guidance (3 hours)

Teaching language: Valencian/Spanish

Learning outcomes: To know the characteristics of a research in the biomedical field.

ADAPTATION PROCEDURE: Completion certificate issued by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the Universitat de València. At the end of the corresponding academic year, the Doctoral Academic Committee will include it in the students’ Personalised Document of Activities.


Specific activity Code: 50175


Name of the activity: Attendance and Participation in a Scientific Conference of the specialisation.

Number of hours: 15.

Type: Compulsory.

Planning of the training activity : Throughout the studies, both for full-time and part-time students.

Details: In cases in which the directors and tutors of the doctoral students deem it appropriate, students must attend a scientific conference of the same specialty as their doctoral programme and present a poster or a scientific presentation with the approval of the Academic Committee. The duration of the stay will depend on the necessities of the doctoral thesis in hand.

Teaching language: It depends on where the Conference is held.

Learning outcomes: To make a poster or to deliver a scientific presentation in their research field and presenting it in a scientific congress or meeting.

ADAPTATION PROCEDURE: Delivering the proof of attendance and participation in the Conference and a poster or oral presentation by means of RAPID: https://www.uv.es/rapid

MOBILITY: The Doctoral Programme in Medicine should facilitate and strengthen the access of doctoral students to mobility programmes announced by public bodies or administrations, including those from the university, for the attendance to the conference.

Name of the activity: Stay in Research Centres.

Number of hours:  at least 40 hours.

.Type: Optional

Details: In cases in which the directors and tutor of the doctoral students deem it appropriate, students shall undertake a stay in a national or international research centre, with the approval of the Academic Committee. The duration of the stay will depend on the necessities of the doctoral thesis in hand.

This activity, in the event of being carried out, will replace some of the activities 1 to 7, according to the duration of the stay undertaken.

Learning outcomes: to know the methodology and the research techniques developed in the centre, and to acquire skills related to work team in a collaborative environment with research from other research centres.

Teaching language: Depending of the centre where the stay is carried out.

Time planning: Throughout the studies, both for full-time and part-time students.

ADAPTATION PROCEDURE: Delivering the completion certificate, signed by the head of stay in the institution concerned, report of the tutor assigned to the doctoral student in the host centre, report of the director of the doctoral thesis on compliance with the stated objectives for the stay and a memory of the activity developed by means of RAPID: https://www.uv.es/rapid
