TRAINING ACTIVITIES AND THEIR RECOGNITION

The total number of activities to be carried out by the doctoral student amounts to 60 hours, including the two transversal activities that must be completed and the specific activities, distributed as follows:

TRANSVERSAL ACTIVITIES

The following two activities must be taken during the first two academic years of the programme, both for full-time and part-time students.

  • 50000: WRITING SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES in Health Sciences (15 hours).
  • 50460: SELECTION, IMPLEMENTATION AND INTERPRETATION OF BASIC STATISTICAL TECHNIQUES IN RESEARCH (15 hours).

Access the activity catalogue with the teaching dates.
Registration, registration period and guide.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES

  • 50227: DOCTORATE TRAINING DAY AT THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE (15 hours). This activity must be taken in the first academic year of the programme, both for full-time and part-time students. Organised by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the UV.

    • Human Ethics Committee (3 hours).
    • Animal Experimentation (3 hours).
    • Clinical Trials (3 hours).
    • Bibliography and Research Methodology (3 hours).
    • Administrative Orientation (3 hours).

The Doctoral Programme will contact the student for registration.

  • 50228: ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION IN A SCIENTIFIC CONGRESS: Attendance and presentation of a poster or communication related to the doctoral thesis (equivalent to 15 hours). This activity must be carried out during the doctoral studies, both full-time and part-time.

Once this activity has been completed, the doctoral student must request its recognition via RAPID, attaching the two certificates: proof of attendance at the congress and proof of authorship of the communication or poster presented.

  • This activity cannot be replaced by the mobility activity described below.

  • 50229: OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: Mobility: Stay in a Research Centre.

If the supervisors and tutor consider it appropriate, the doctoral student may undertake short stays in Spanish or foreign Universities or Research Centres related to the doctoral thesis, with the approval of the Academic Committee of the Programme. The duration will depend on the needs of the thesis. For full-time doctoral students, the stay will be for at least one month and as long as necessary to achieve the objectives. Part-time students may undertake stays of at least 15 days (depending on their availability) and as many as needed during the doctoral period.

This activity is independent of the stay required for the International Mention of the doctoral degree.

The doctoral student must submit to the Doctoral Programme (dfisiologia@uv.es), prior to the stay, the Application for authorisation of stay: Optional Activity, together with the CV of the host supervisor and the acceptance letter from the Centre. After the stay, the student must submit to dfisiologia@uv.es the Stay report, together with the supervision report signed by the tutor at the host Centre.

If carried out, and depending on the duration of the stay, this activity may replace one or more of the previous activities, except for Attendance and participation in a Congress. Two weeks of full-time stay will be equivalent to one activity, considering full-time dedication as 40 working hours per week and part-time dedication as 20 hours per week. For this purpose, once the stay and report have been submitted, the student must request recognition via RAPID.

IMPORTANT: RECOGNITION OF ACTIVITIES

  • When the doctoral student completes and passes the specific activity 50227: Doctorate training day at the Faculty of Medicine, they must request its recognition via RAPID, indicating equivalence to 15 hours and attaching the certificate issued by the Doctoral Programme confirming successful completion.
  • When the doctoral student completes the specific activity 50228: Attendance and participation in a scientific congress, they must request its recognition via RAPID, indicating equivalence to 15 hours and attaching, in a single file (PDF or ZIP), both certificates: the attendance certificate and the authorship certificate of the communication or poster presented.
  • If the doctoral student has carried out the activity 50229: Optional Mobility Activity, they must also request its recognition via RAPID, attaching the corresponding supporting documents.
  • For the two Transversal Activities, there is NO need to request recognition in RAPID, as the results are incorporated directly by the Doctoral School into the student’s record.

Before starting the thesis deposit procedures, the doctoral student must check in RAPID that the two Transversal Activities and the two Specific Activities of the Programme have been recognised.

NOTE: The Transversal Activities (50000 and 50460) and the Specific Activity 50227: Doctorate training day at the Faculty of Medicine may be validated by the Doctoral Programme if the student has completed a similar activity elsewhere. In this case, the student must first apply for validation to the Doctoral Programme (dfisiologia@uv.es), attaching the content of the activity taken and proof of completion.

If the validation is accepted by the Doctoral Programme, the student must subsequently request recognition via RAPID, well in advance of the thesis deposit application. Otherwise, if validation is denied by the Academic Committee of the Programme, the student must complete the activity before applying for the deposit of the thesis.
