The doctoral student Sedigheh Jalili successfully defended her thesis “Manager-Employee Dynamics in Intellectual Disability Service Organizations Dedicated to Individual with Intellectual Disabilities”. The defense took place the 13 February. The tribunal was formed by professors José Ramos, Marina Romero and María Esther García.
The thesis addresses leadership in intellectual disability service organisations and it includes three studies: a systematic revision that identified key competences and theoretical models, exposing voids in the research on the impact of leadership in professional engagement; an analysis on the ‘‘spread of their commitment’’ that proved leaders with strong beliefs about eudaimonic well-being convey their commitment to professionals of this service in a positive way; and a study about the reciprocal trust that stated mutual trust among leaders and professionals improves the quality of life of the service users. It finished concluding that investment in leadership development, promoting commitment and building relationships based on trust can meaningfully improve the quality of the service in these organisations.
