The Doctoral School of the UV has one of the widest doctoral studies of all Spanish universities, with 60 programs that cover all branches of knowledge. Basic Sciences and Engineering, Health Sciences and Humanities, and in which more than 4,500 persons are enrolled

The UV is a university with an international profile. One of the first universities in hosting Erasmus students and member of the European Universities Forthem Alliance, financed jointly by the Erasmus Program + and by the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme of the European Union.

The Doctoral School of the UV fosters the internationalisation through the impetus to conducting doctoral theses in a co-tutelle regime and theses with international mention. In this way, about the 30% of thesis read each academic year are developed in a co-tutelle regime with other universities or receive an international mention.

The UV carries out an important research, both qualitative and quantitative, with a scientific production positioning it among the first Spanish universities in all international rankings. It has joint research institutes with the CSIC and its research quality is also renowned with "Severo Ochoa" and "María de Maeztu" seals of excellence.

The UV has its own programmes to help research: ‘Talent Attraction’ predoctoral grants; Predoctoral mobility grants, for both short-term stays teaching in other countries and guest researchers stays; Scientific Infrastructure; Precompetitive projects; and support programs for taking part in projects and other EU initiatives.

The UV also focuses its activity in innovation and transfer. Its Scientific Park has more than 90 innovative scientific-technological business. In addition, it has a business incubator, so as to host spin-offs and other business projects in its early phases of growth, and three business incubators in which start-ups and newly built business can be found.

The UV has a grant programme ‘Valorize and Transfer’ for developing proof of concept projects and, in relation with transferring to society, its Doctoral School fosters and supports carrying out Industrial Doctorates and other types of Doctorates in collaboration with business, entities and institutions in both, the private and the public sector.

The UV fosters the university community health through sport and, for that reason, all its Campus Include sports facilities and organises internal competitions and take part in interuniversity and international competitions, in which achieve excellent results. Its program of adapted sport, university sports grants and prizes of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation should be noted.

The UV is an historic university, created in 1499, which not only has a great Heritage, but also an important cultural activity. La Nau Cultural Centre, Located in the centre of Valencia and what was the initial head office of our university, currently is a place with a wide cultural activity available to all society. It is worth noting, by way of example, The Botanical Garden, founded in 1567 and related to Medical studies, which currently is a research centre and a living museum available to visitors; The Rector Peset Hall of Residence; or the Cerveró Palace. The UV also has a Philharmonic Orchestra with a staff of more than 80 musicians.

The UV is a public, supportive, egalitarian and sustainable university which develops the programme ‘ODS: yo sí!, as a force of social transformation.
