Asunción Gallego, who has just graduated in Informatics Engineering and awarded with the prize to the best degree final project of her promotion, published the results of her project in the journal BMC Bioinformatics.
Her degree final project was directed by professor Vicente Arnau (Department of computer science ETSE-UV) and the researcher Dr Joaquín Tárraga, of the Computational Genomics laboratory of the Príncipe Felipe Research Centre (CIPF), directed by Dr Joaquín Dopazo. Currently, she is working as a laboratory technician in the CIPF.
Asunción developed a new tool for DNA sequencing data analysis obtained with nanoporous technology. This technology makes it possible to obtain the DNA sequence of a person with such a low cost that will allow DNA tests to be more usual for disease detection and treatment.
